JANMI Method
Treat locally. Reason globally. See the person.
JANMI is an assessment-led approach to soft tissue therapy, developed through clinical practice by Paulius Jurasius. It brings anatomical knowledge, skilled therapeutic touch, movement support and ongoing reassessment into one thoughtful process.
We begin with what matters to you: the painful area, the movement you miss, and the activities you want to feel more confident doing.
Start with the painful area. Stay curious.
Your symptoms deserve direct attention. Where relevant, we also explore how other regions move and share load, alongside your activity, recovery, health history and preferences. A finding elsewhere is a question to investigate, not proof that we have found a single cause.
JANMI explores how posture, movement, tissue loading and modern lifestyle may interact in musculoskeletal pain, then combines precise soft tissue therapy, movement support and education to help the body move more comfortably.
How JANMI reasons
Assess → Recognise → Hypothesise → Explain → Treat → Support → Reassess
01 — Assess. Listen to your story, clarify your goals and review relevant health information. Explore comfortable movement and appropriate functional tasks, with your consent.
02 — Recognise. Notice patterns in movement, sensitivity and loading. Distinguish observations from assumptions; a difference between sides is not automatically a problem.
03 — Hypothesise. Form a working explanation for what may be contributing. Consider alternatives and acknowledge uncertainty. This is a hypothesis, not a diagnosis made from touch.
04 — Explain. Share what we found, what it might mean and what remains uncertain. Agree the purpose of treatment, pressure, priorities and next steps together.
05 — Treat. Select targeted soft tissue and myofascial techniques, comfortable mobilisation and movement where appropriate. Adapt the work to your response rather than following a fixed sequence.
06 — Support. Practise a small number of relevant movements and provide achievable aftercare. Where suitable, the optional JANMI 7-Day Support Plan adds structure between appointments.
07 — Reassess. Return to the movement or activity we agreed to monitor. Ask what changed, what did not, and whether the plan needs adapting. Short-term relief does not prove a proposed mechanism.
Six links. One person.
The six JANMI links are interacting regions for clinical exploration. They are not a rigid causal chain, a mandatory treatment sequence or six areas that everyone needs treated.
Foot / ankle — Explore comfort during standing and walking, ankle movement and how the foot meets the ground.
Knee — Consider comfortable bending, straightening and everyday tasks such as stairs or rising from a chair.
Hip / pelvis — Explore hip movement, changes of position and how you manage load during your chosen activities.
Lumbar / thorax — Consider comfortable trunk movement, breathing and the demands of sitting, lifting or turning.
Shoulder / scapula — Explore reaching, arm movement and the interaction between the shoulder, shoulder blade and trunk.
Neck / head — Consider comfortable turning, sustained positions and the tasks that matter in your daily life.
We follow relevant findings in either direction. Posture or a restriction in one region does not establish the cause of pain elsewhere.
Precise touch. Responsive treatment.
Anatomical knowledge helps us choose where and how to work. Skilled touch helps us monitor comfort, tissue response and your experience throughout treatment. Pressure is agreed with you; more force is not necessarily more useful.
Hands-on work may help some people feel less sore or move more comfortably. We do not describe it as correcting alignment, removing toxins, breaking permanent adhesions or repairing structural degeneration. Touch alone cannot reliably identify the source of pain.
Movement carries the work forward.
Aftercare connects the session to daily life. This may include comfortable mobility drills, stretches, graded strengthening or simple changes to how you pace activity. Exercises are selected for your goals, ability and response, within the practitioner’s competence.
JANMI 65+ Mobility & Resilience provides specialist soft tissue therapy and movement support for older adults who want to maintain comfortable movement, mobility, resilience, confidence and independence. Appointments may include personalised soft tissue therapy, mobility, gentle movement, balance and control exercises where appropriate, and simple home movement recommendations. Choose 60 minutes for £195 or 90 minutes for £260; appointment time includes assessment, treatment and movement guidance. Suitability is considered individually.
Evidence, inference and the JANMI framework
Established evidence: pain has multiple influences, and suitable physical activity and exercise are important parts of musculoskeletal care. Effects of manual therapy vary with the person and condition; benefits are often short term.
Clinical inference: exploring a relevant neighbouring region or changing a task may offer useful options. We test that idea against your response rather than presenting it as a fact.
JANMI methodology: the seven-stage reasoning process and six-link framework organise our practice and education. They are not a separately validated medical protocol or a guarantee of results.
Clear boundaries. Appropriate care.
JANMI provides soft tissue therapy and movement support within professional competence. We do not diagnose disease, replace medical care, promise a cure, reverse ageing or claim that manual therapy alone prevents falls.
Health history, medication, osteoporosis, recent surgery, joint replacements and frailty may change what is appropriate. We adapt treatment or recommend medical or physiotherapy assessment when needs fall outside our scope. New or worsening weakness, unexplained swelling, significant trauma or other concerning symptoms require appropriate assessment rather than routine treatment.
Care, learning and shared knowledge.
The Method connects JANMI’s clinical care, education, and developing clinical case and reasoning library. Future practice guides and learning resources will distinguish observation, interpretation and evidence. Educational development does not imply a regulated qualification or formal research-institution status.
