Tennis Elbow - Not Just for Tennis Players! By Paulius Jurasius, Creator of the JANMI Therapy

Elbow anatomy

Hello, JANMI community! It's Paulius here, and today I want to talk about something that affects many of us, not just athletes—Tennis Elbow. Whether you're typing away at a desk, playing a musical instrument, or engaging in sports, repetitive motions can cause this painful condition. But don't worry, there's a way to manage and even prevent it!

What is Tennis Elbow?

Tennis Elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a condition that arises from the overuse of the forearm muscles and tendons. This can lead to inflammation, micro-tears, and a lot of discomfort around the elbow joint. While it's commonly associated with tennis players, anyone who performs repetitive arm movements is at risk.

Common Causes

From typing on a keyboard all day to playing certain sports, repetitive motions are often the root cause. These actions can create a mismatch condition, where the demand on your muscles and tendons exceeds their capacity, leading to strain and injury.

Our Approach at JANMI

At JANMI, we're all about understanding these mismatch conditions and creating bespoke strategies to address them. Our focus is on holistic and personalized care, ensuring that you get the best possible treatment for your unique situation.

Key Services: Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy

We offer specialized treatments like Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascia Release Therapy to target the specific areas of tension and pain. These therapies are designed to release the knots and tightness in your muscles and fascia, which can significantly alleviate pain and restore proper function.

Trigger Point Therapy involves applying pressure to specific points in your muscles, helping to release tension and improve circulation. Our Myofascial Release Therapy focuses on the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding your muscles, to reduce inflammation and improve mobility. These therapies, along with Sports Massage Therapy, form a comprehensive approach to treating and preventing Tennis Elbow.

Preventive Measures and Targeted Stretches

To prevent Tennis Elbow, it's important to incorporate regular breaks and targeted stretches into your routine. Here are a few easy stretches that can make a big difference:

1. Wrist Extensor Stretch: Extend your arm in front of you with your palm facing down. Pull your fingers back gently towards your body using your other hand. Hold for 15-30 seconds and repeat 2-3 times.

2. Wrist Flexor Stretch: Extend your arm with your palm facing up. Pull your fingers down and back gently. Hold for 15-30 seconds and repeat 2-3 times.

3. Forearm Pronator Stretch: Extend your arm with your palm down. Gently turn your palm upwards until you feel a stretch. Hold for 15-30 seconds and repeat 2-3 times.

Please consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise or stretching regimen, especially if you have an existing medical condition or injury.
